If you are someone who loves to read and wants to share that love with others make the JCLLA your Mitzvah Project and support Jewish literacy by providing access to thousands of Jewish books, movies and music for everybody.

Some ideas:

  1. In lieu of gifts to you for your simcha (b/mitzvah, engagement, marriage, etc.) people donate 3 times chai ($18) (for the past, present and future of Jewish peoplehood ) $54 to the JCLLA. With their donation in your honor, they will support access to thousands of Jewish books, movies, and music for the Jews of Los Angeles. They will receive a letter of acknowledgement, and a book plate will be placed in a Library book, in their name, in honor of your simcha. Contact the JCLLA to receive ready made envelopes for this purpose.
  2. Hold a read-a-thon for the Jewish Community Library. Get people to donate a certain amount per book that YOU read during Jewish Book Month. Contact the JCLLA for details. (323.761.8655)
  3. Every time you read a Jewish book, put aside a certain amount of money for the Jewish Community Library. How much? It's up to you! Contact the JCLLA to receive envelopes in which you can send in your contribution and list of books you read.
  4. Become a FUNdraiser for the JCLLA. Raise money and have fun while supporting the JCLLA. Ask your friends and family to contribute to keep the JCLLA strong. Hold a car wash, bake sale, lemonade stand and donate the money to the JCLLA.
